E&I Technician

Sector: Oil & Gas

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on support, on-the-job (OTJ) training and coordination of the Field's instrument maintenance technicians and trainees in all maintenance activities in accordance with the Company’s policies and objectives.
  • Delivery of companies planned, predictive and corrective works scope to ensure equipment availability and integrity is maintained with a track record of on-time PPM delivery for the facilities, instrumentation control and fire and gas systems.
  • Plan activities and obtain necessary PTW, review work assigned and arrange for the necessary transport, material, tools and equipment to complete the task.
  • Development and update of maintenance procedures and plans to ensure efficiency and safe delivery of all maintenance scopes.
  • Competent in the use of computer maintenance management systems (CMMS). Keep CMMS data and documentation accurate (work orders, as-found/as-left calibration records, drawings, and as-builts).
  • Experienced with control of work requirements on Oil and Gas facilities.
  • Competent in the use of analysis techniques and instrumentation interrogation equipment to enable instrumentation condition analysis and functionality proof. Calibration and test equipment operation.
  • Ensure all statutory requirements and site SCE compliance are achieved. SIS/ SIL function testing, Compex
  • Execute calibrations, loop checks, and repairs for process instruments, control valves, and F&G detectors per CMMS work orders and ITRs.
  • Conduct SIS, PSD/ESD, HIPPS and F&G proof tests; manage bypasses/overrides and restore to service.
  • Maintain alarm health (bad-actor review, shelving governance) in line with the Alarm Philosophy.
  • Support commissioning & brownfield tie-ins: pre-comm checks, loop folders, punch clearance, MC→RFC→RFSU progression.
  • Keep drawings/as-built data current (P&IDs, loops, C&E, hook-ups); record as-found/as-left data.
  • Mentor national techs; deliver OJT aligned to a competency matrix (levels 1–3).
  • Enforce PTW/LOTO, gas testing, and area-classification controls; participate in toolbox talks and SIMOPS planning.
  • Interface with DCS/PLC/FGS vendors; perform basic logic download/backup under change control.
  • Ensures that the Production, Maintenance and Logistics activities are conducted in compliance with the applicable HSE procedures, including the Work Permit procedure.
  • Acts as the permanent Company representative and is fully responsible for all decisions affecting the Health, Safety and Security of all personnel on site. He has the authority to stop operations, construction, or any other activity that may jeopardise the safety or security of the personnel and installations.
  • Act as a member of the emergency response team if required.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–4 years of hands-on experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Power Generation maintenance, with exposure to electrical systems, field instrumentation, and PLC/DCS control systems.
    Experience in calibration, troubleshooting, fault-finding, and repair of field instruments, control valves, and Fire & Gas detectors.
  • Basic understanding of pumps, valves, generators, and mechanical interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of common communication protocols such as HART, Fieldbus, Profibus-PA, Modbus, or CAN bus (preferred).
  • Ability to use instrumentation tools such as HART communicator, multifunction calibrator, deadweight tester, and gas testing equipment.
  • Familiarity with CMMS and ability to maintain accurate maintenance and calibration records.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, and instrument connection diagrams.
  • Strong safety awareness with adherence to HSE, PTW, and LOTO procedures.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently when required.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English; able to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Must be available to work on off-shift hours, on a project or emergency basis.

Working Conditions:

 Field-based,  Rotation: 14 days ON / 14 days OFF.
