Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish the requirements for design deliverables relating to electrical equipment.
- Develop electrical specifications and design basis documentation.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Review design deliverables and follow up on comments, ensuring they are suitably incorporated in accordance with the appropriate design standards and codes.
- Contribute to the Management of Change process in terms of engineering reviews and potential changes and variation order proposals relating to electrical equipment.
- Participate in peer assists, peer reviews, value improving process workshops and the end-of-stage Technical Assurance System review as required.
- Ensure timely delivery of the Engineering and Maintenance Team deliverables.
- Ensure that project standards and functional specifications for electrical equipment are suitable. Where exceptions and/or deviations from Company/Corporate Standards are
- proposed, subject these to formal risk assessment and dispensation as per specific company procedures.
- Contribute to project risk workshops and follow up on engineering-related actions relating to any risk response action plans.
- Monitor progress for the development of electrical equipment and design deliverables.
- Propose corrective actions in the event of potential schedule overrun (where necessary, in consultation with the Engineering and Projects Management as required).
- Prepare technical and progress reports to support the flow of key information to management to assist in decision making.
- Participate in the procurement process (i.e., ITT requisition packages) through the evaluation of technical submissions, inclusive of final Technical Bid evaluation report.
- Review and approve key deliverables issued by EPC contractors on plant design.
- Participate and ensure the electrical engineering, installation & commissioning scope is carried out in a safe manner and in compliance with: the scope of work; approved engineering standards; and project specifications.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
- Prepare and present technical reports and proposals.
- Active input to Permit to Work System and appointment of SAEP (Senior Authorised Persons) for Isolation and switching programs on LV and MV distribution systems when requested by Operations technical personnel.
- Liaise with the Operations representatives in the development of an Operations Assurance Plan that describes the operational activities, assurance requirements and deliverables. Including plans of readiness for handover and commissioning, whilst being the Approver of the same.
- Assist with the development of operating and training manuals and ensure that the manuals relating to electrical equipment are produced with quality.
- Participate and author incident report on plant wide issues if required.
- Encourage and provide direction for a multi-faceted continuous professional development program for electrical engineering trainees.
- Participate in HAZIDs and HAZOPs and other HSSE-related reviews.
- Demonstrate visible leadership and commitment to excellent HSSE performance in support of the Engineering, Maintenance and Project Manager’s accountabilities.
- Active input to the Permit to Work System when requested by Operations process and discipline technical personnel.
- Undertake inspections of equipment at various stages of its manufacture. Including attendance of Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests as the client representative.
- Establish the process for applying criticality ratings to procured items (relative to the degree of inspection required).
- Assist with the process for design verification by a third party.
- Carry out design audits on in-house deliverables and contractor submissions.
- Implement and monitor best practices for design and engineering processes.
- Identify and
implement improvements to design processes and methodologies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Master’s degree or professional membership accreditation (IET) is a plus.
- Fifteen years’ minimum electrical engineering experience in the Upstream Oil & Gas Industry or similar heavy industry inclusive of no less than five years in a Lead Electrical Engineer role involving electrical systems with up to 11kV.
- Electrical network simulation software – model setup and results interpretation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with implementation of electrical designs in the field environment – e.g. strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with field technicians to develop pragmatic solutions during project execution.
- Experience with troubleshooting operations faults and working with field personnel to develop and implement pragmatic solutions reflective of the expectations of a Senior Electrical Engineer.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
Office-Based, Rotational (4 weeks on / 4 weeks off).
